Abstract

 

The methodological augmentation of a language textbook at the level of each of its didactic units (DU) may relate to (1) the number and (2) the types of activities, (3a) new or (3b) already introduced content in the DU, (4) the number of activity types, (5) the targeted competence levels, and (6) the components of the textbook design methodology. This model was originally developed to analyze AI's responses to requests for methodological enrichment proposals that could be used by teachers and students to build differentiated teaching sequences. It can undoubtedly be used in reverse — experiments have yet to be conducted at this time — to assist and guide an AI in its proposals for methodological augmentation to a DU or part of a DU in a textbook, taking into account the fact that different types of augmentation can be combined or linked together, and that they require different levels of competence from the teacher in their use of the textbook.
